My day #9

Tidied up the computer and found some ‘forgotten’ gems from last year.
Some dresses from the same series as this one, but these colors remained -for no reason- unpublished.
The pink version with somewhat too much zigzag band according to myself but just perfect according to our daughter.

Turquoise and orange.

Pattern: Curl Up homemade, but samples the dress we bought in ‘De Jacob’ in Gent, Belgium.
Fabric: The plain fabrics are Kona Solids from Robert Kaufman bought @ Classic Quilts &Quilting. The different Kokeshi fabrics were bought @ Fifi Jolipois.

My day #8

School is finished. It is too warm to play longer than 30 minutes outside at the moment, so we have to find valuable alternatives. Our collection of playmobil temporarily lost its charm so the three eldest sew a cuddle.

Mibo has a range of printed tea towels that can be transformed into a cuddle. I bought the towels locally, but you can order them as well as their other gorgeous products directly from Mibo.

Recyclable sandwich bag

Lunch will be packed from now onwards in a recyclable sandwich bag. Hopefully the sandwiches will not be smothered too much. We will keep u posted about the usefulness of the bags.

The bags are closed with kamsnaps and as usual I did not know which color combination to choose so I choose to make three different ones.

Fabric: Petit Pan among other places for sale in Antwerpen

My day #7

Our linens are suffering from many washing (hard and very warm water are doing no good to the fabric) and they look very poorly. On top of that during the last pillow fight of the boys some pillow cases got ripped apart. We put some new ones together in the kids preferred fabrics.

Soon we will start posting some more high level creations, for now we it is all about quantity, repair works, and relapsing into making golden oldies.

My day #6

Still no inspiration, but the sewing books helped out a little today. The children choose these pencil-holder-baskets are this year’s class teachers gifts.

The amount of presents to stitch is getting less, but now … let’s watch some WC football go RED DEVILS go!

My day #5

The end of the school year is approaching fast. I don’t have any inspiration, so I started to make magnets with some fabric scraps we have gathered this year.

I hope to get some inspiration soon, so we can give something else again to our kids coaches and teachers, besides a tiny magnet.

DIY coloring elastic

We made some puckered skirts but it took as a while to finish them as we could not find matching, thick elastic for around the waist. Only available locally was white and black which is not matching very well with beautiful fabric from Petit Pan.
Some Dylon and a couple fo washes later we had our DIY elastic.

I tried four different colors: Burlesque, Ocean Blue, Bahama Blue, and Tulip Red. Every kind of elastic gives a different result. None of the elastics color fully.

The final result is more like a stone-washed look.

The skirts look perfect with the matching elastic, but the flower girls can see them before you all do!
